Kolam is a form of sand painting that is drawn using rice powder by female members of the family in front of their home. It is widely practiced by Hindus in South India. A kolam is a sort of painted prayer - a line drawing composed of curved loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots. Kolams are thought to bestow prosperity to homes.

The Htilominlo Pahto was built by King Nandaungmyar (Htilominlo) (A.D 1211-1230). The 50 metres high Htilominlo is one of the largest temples of Bagan and is noted for its fine plaster carvings. There are remains of fine murals on the interior walls. The Htilominlo is a large 3-story red brick (with some stone) temple on a low platform. Originally covered in carved white stucco, some of its exquisite finely detailed plaster still remains.
